NOTES ON BRESSON brings together academics, researchers and students from across a range of disciplines, along with filmmakers, cineastes and creative practitioners, to explore Bresson’s oeuvre and persistent influence.Īcross two days, sessions include Early and Later Bresson, Genesis - Bresson’s great unmade film, Notes on Cinematography, Bresson and Philosophy and Bresson and Contemporary Art Practice. The conference marks 80 years since the wartime release of Robert Bresson’s first feature film Les Anges du Peche in 1943, and 40 years since the release of his final feature film L’Argent in 1983. University of Manchester, in collaboration with Richmond, The American University in London, is proud to host the NOTES ON BRESSON conference at The Martin Harris Centre in the University’s School of Arts on 30th and 31st March 2023.
